Headstrong braves summer heat for GK build

The sun high up in the cloudless sky was no match for the spirit of volunteerism displayed by Headstrong volunteers.  Trading their computer screens and keyboards for bricks, buckets and shovels, 40 IT practitioners spent half a day to help in the construction of Zonta Village in Taguig City.

The February 21 activity started with a detour at Poveda Village, a GK model community, where the volunteers met up with Rommel Turingan, GK coordinator.  Rommel treated the team to a brief introduction to the various GK communities around the vicinity, and narrated how the Poveda Village had come about.

“This site was constructed by student volunteers of Poveda,” Rommel said.  “Their parents did not know about this activity but was deeply touched by the heart of their daughters when they took knowledge that they helped in building this community.”
