Service beyond bottom-line

June 16, 2009

A recent article from the Associated Press talks about a puppy accidentally flushed down the toilet by its four-year old master.  Neither the local fire brigade nor the RSCPA could not rescue the week-old cocker spaniel.

The boy’s mother frantically called a company specializing in sewage and pipe services but was worried about the cost.  Upon learning of the situation, Dyno-Rod decided to provide the service for free.  Eventually the pup was rescued…and was christened “Dyno” after its rescuers.

I remember two Greater Good interviews–with the guys behind Ideals-Creatives and Hon. Felix Santos–who leverage their talents and resources not just to be of service to others, but also to work towards development of the community.

Would not it be beneficial to many if all of us put ourselves in the position where what we do for a living is veered towards the upliftment of everyone else?
